Organic Lamb

About Our Lamb

Rootbound is the home to a flock of 400+ sheep that rotate through 300+ acres of pastureland. Sheep are “ruminants” and have evolved to enjoy a diet of forages and grasses. They can live their whole lives harvesting the carbon cycle of sunshine, soil, grass, and water. When raised in a pasture-based system on a grass diet, lamb is an incredibly sustainable protein.

Organic

Healthy pastures – we are not spraying our grass or hay fields with any herbicides. No use of antibiotics in animals, no synthetic dewormers, and we are not feeding grains that are heavily laden with herbicides and pesticides.

Animal Welfare

Holistic hands-on management. We take care to get ahead of health problems by reducing stress, and prioritizing access to fresh grass.

Quality

We raise the “Katahdin” breed of sheep, which has a mild and delicious flavor. Their 100% grass diet yields healthy fats and more nutrients in the meat. Our customers say it’s the best tasting lamb they’ve ever had.
